Signed limited editon Giclée print on 230 gsm heavyweight paper.
In the heart of London’s Piccadilly Circus, The Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain commemorates the philanthropic works of Victorian politician Lord Shaftesbury. The winged nude statue is generally mistakenly known as Eros. It was created by sculptor Alfred Gilbert as an image of his brother, Anteros. Gilbert described Anteros as portraying "reflective and mature love, as opposed to Eros or Cupid, the frivolous tyrant.” Gilbert’s message links to the popularised slogan that appears on the woman’s backpack. This image is peppered with people using mobile technology - all except for the man in the right hand side of the image, who stands in the path of the the arrow shot. He appears to waiting for someone.
This bold graphic print makes for a unique purchase for any art lover who is interested in a 21st Century approach to documenting this lively city. Perfect on its own or make it part of the series by teaming it up with a selection of other prints available in the range.
